Story
Ryudo, a teenage boy living in a secluded village not far from the Layfare Forest with his elder brother Jacob, is all of a sudden thrust into an adventure that not even he could see coming. With the assisstance of his fellow villagers, Ryudo sets out on a journey into the outside world, in an attempt to investigate the mysterious powers of the twenty orbs and to find out why his father is so adamant about destroying them.

look fantastic, sounds fantasitc, and it is turn based!(I prefer turn based rpgs personally). however, the password thing might ruin it a bit. will edit after i try it out.

Ah, there we go! I beat the factory and defeated the monster. Well, I noticed you got a lot of your song from Final Fantasy VII (which I'm a huge fan of). you should try to get your own music composer to give this some originality. There's also a lot of stuff I saw copied from other stuff (including the foxengine's moving platform). The controls were way to spread out. You should use buttons like Z, X, C, and V. And finally, the story was a little mixed up. I couldn't really understand what I was supposed to do and why I was doing it.

8/10, keep it up! ^_^

Well, I couldn't get to fight at all. The mazes were way too hard and annoying. You should tone it down a bit, espicially since the players will be beginners. You should have a quick tutorial or something like that. So until I get past the maze, it's a 8/10.   ^_^

point taken, i guess for us the creators, the maze is a cynch but we did take into consideration that some people might struggle on it so we tried to tone it down a bit but still keep it challenging. After all, a challenging game is always more rewarding. We also put the Sign posts in to give players a good understanding of the basic skills required to pass the facility.

I understand that perfectly, but as you said, creators can get through it much easier then the players. Maybe have a flashback of some sort before starting the actual game with a quick tutorial and a sample fight. Not only would that be useful for the players, but it also gives the game a nice effect!

I guess that would be good. Though the facility was supposed to be the tutorial. :blink:

Anyways that will be the first thing we change, as i can see it might be a problem for many.

Edit ** Let me know what you think of Battle System, The Inventory and the Saving, they are what we spent a lot of time working on.

inventory : GREAT

graphics : not so great, ripped from vrious sources inluding (obviously) foxengine, make your own! also the veiw is inconsistent , what view are you trying to show us?

level design, nice, then gets worse, and worse.

fighting engine, ripped graphics but nice, i likes the spells and attack, although you should make the health into a BAR not numbers, also the spells did less damage than the attack (i bought the sword) , that sucked.

i think you should be ablle to save whenever also the chat boxes were too slow, make so when you press enter the whole thing appears.

the controlls were good but you used too many, arraws, space, enter, shift, I , simplify please.

storyline, wanst ovous but was ok i guess, a lot of dialouge put in i can see, also it wasnt clear to me what i should do.

good but could be a lot beter overall

cool, criticism is good, it will help me fix the areas of the game that are weak. Yes we did use the fox engine but im pretty sure thats in the credits. Battle graphics were ours, besides the monsters.

Nice, but one suggestion. don't make the passwords the weapons! :blink: even after you edited, you left the weapon names in there. ^_^ Also, i beat it. pretty good, but i think the second dungeon is impossible. Also, the traveling merchant is funny! :)

My brother insisted i put the passwords in but i was in the same boat as you and thought they would ruin the fun, therefore ill remove them completely

edit** we were tempted to make your character tell the travelling merchant, "No more fight for survival. But then, what reason would i have to live?" We decided against it but, i thought you should know. :blink:

edit*** By completely i meant completely from the thread, not the game. Good idea for using as a reward for beating the game.

Actually, i suggest keeping them in, but changing the names, and use them as rewards when you beat the game. it only shows ones you got though.

Hey i to have been waiting for this to be released, not really so i could play it because i have tested the game a fair bit, but to see the reactions and replies from you guys! So far awesome, 69poomaster69 you should be proud of yourself! You've made a great platformer game! I am about to go play it because i didn't get to test the temples or anything so i will do that then reply later! Nice job keep it up!

WOW I am impressed so much mate! I love this game, and i think that everyone should! Guys don't just play this once then think 'oh yer another platformer'...This one has a great storyline, and is fun to play. If you are confused about what to do, that is because you havn't talked to someone or seen something..a clue maybe...You won't get far without exploring everything and finding out every little bit ok! 69poomaster69, I will PM you some bugs, that are easily fixed! They are small, and shouldn't be too hard! It is up to you if you are to do them, but i want this game to be perfect so i suggest that you do! GREAT GAME! 9/10 so far!

Well, first, the game seems pretty fun. I like platform RPGs, and the graphics are pretty good. I was looking forward to playing this. But...

Things just seem... unorganized. I talked to various people, and I went to the building to the far left that I thought was the training facility. The platforms were kinda annoying but not too bad. Then I got to the floor with the two spinners on top and two on bottom. I tried like 20 times, and just gave up. I guess that you're supposed to crouch jump between it each time and run in between them, but with the controls it was nearly impossible to do.

I suggest that you should also mark what you can interact with. I randomly decided to press Space next to those gold coins, and I got them. One more thing is that the music is really dramatic... although it is a nice song from Chrono Trigger, I suggest a more town-like theme.

Maybe if I can get past those spinning tops somehow I'll change this, but for now I have to give this a 6/10.

Hey Ive played it its great :D but after I recieve a weapon then go to that place where you must wal on invisible blocks it still says you must have a weapon is that the end of the demo?, and how did you get those character faces in the dialougue boxes they look so proffesional :P

oh and is it possible to get through that training place where the sign says: dont be too hasty in jumping your stuck arnt you? (Ok I dont remember it but thats basically what it says) I went though the floor but no matter what you could not dodge those spikes :)

p.s you used one of my sprites(the knight) :) :P

very good so far :D

NO that is not the end of the demo! That's not much of the demo actually. Go into the training facility and finish it!

*Enter House and grab the 200 gilo*
Talk to guy near fountain
*(* Before/after means suggested)Buy longsword*
Go to training
Beat Training Boss
*Go to tower and talk to girl inside*
Follow your brothers instructions(he is in the libary also)
Go over the frozen wasteland
Enter Temple
Beat Demo Boss
Talk to Wandering Shop Keeper
Mourn the fact you can't go back to the wasteland

Guides for specific parts will be the medium versain. now to check something.... Large Versain will have spoilers, but won't be released till i figure out how to make you only see them if you want to.

Told me a whole bunch of Littles Bugs and annoying things which ive i fixed, would make my game better and i would get 9/10's and 10/10's, yes, i have fixed those, and i have fixed all of the annoying problems that you people discovered, so now, you all will be able to enjoy the game, Happy Gaming ^_^

Before I make 1 single statement about anything not concerning temple... I want to ask all peoples of our real world, a myspace world, or even a World of Warcraft a question...

HAVE YOU GONE TO TEMPLE?

Now on to GM...

After playing FFS I pretty much died due to the awesomeness of gameplay. I mean far out, I don't even wanna know about the code that went into the making of FFS. I reckon about 50+ Hours of work has been spent on this game...
So all you peoples of our real world, a myspace world, or even World of Warcraft, should stop what you're doing, quit hitting up the comments, quit clanning and pawning noobs, and download FFS. After you've played it you can throughouly agree with me on the complexity and skill involved within the game. So honour the creators AND PLAY IT.

I understand it is difficult but remember the higher you train, the higher stats you get which means the more damage you get! If you can't get past the temple, jsut fight some more enemies and gain more levels!

You Dev Studios have made a great comment and im glad there are still people on this forum like you! If you really like this game that much, i suggest you support the game by placing the picture in my signature in yours!

P.S Guys Dev Studios is right, this game is awesome and deserves a resonably long play! There is a lot of coding involved in it, you can tell just by playing the game! 69poomaster69 and his brother deserve great credit for this entertaining game!

Just incase anyone just downloaded before i edited my main post, you may just like to download again, because i just changed the version because i had my character in the wrong spot in the training facility, so you may want to download again, just incase

YAY I finished the demo! That was awesome, even though i tested this game, i never defeated the demo boss until now! I also completed the tower fairly quickly and i enjoyed the game very much!

Man that limit break 2, the 'angel slash' is awesome! You are a great spriter! You made that look very cool lol Nice job!

Can anyone please tell me if they've finished the demo yet? And also can someone tell me if they've finsihed the tower yet?

I liked The sprites you did (other than the arena and the tree) but I wish you would use ALL your own sprites and not us different sprites for the monsters... Other than the graphics and controls this game is absolutly awesome. The gamplay is great but the sprites and controls need a little work

I don't think you can play Game Maker exes on Vista.

About the game, I definitely have to change my opinion. This time I went to the right room, and the tutorial was pretty good. I like the battle system as well. It's all alot better than I first thought it was. I made the mistake of taking on the boss way too early though, I went at him as soon as I finished the training facility.

However, some suggestions:
- replace all of the normal GM boxes with your own boxes so you don't need to use the mouse to choose "No"
- make the dialogue alittle better, the characters have alot of run-on sentences and it brings it down somewhat...

Will you get party members in the future? Otherwise, combat might get alittle dull.

Yup, eventually you will get party Members, but only a maximum of 3, but it will be hard to incorperate the inventory with them, but yer, ill see what i can do.

Excalibur333: yes i know exactly what you were talking about, thats why i made topics ages ago, called something like, create-a-boss or, create-a-monster, or something like that, and only a few people actually created 1, and not many people actually helped, i dont like using ripped ones but i basically have no other choice

im2confused: I'm not switching to Gm7, sorry, but i'm not going to that extent for 1 person, i'm not sure why it wouldn't work considering its an .exe? but allright, tough luck...

Geou: Yer, maybe i should somewhat incorperate a tutorial into the game somehow about trying to kill the boss, so I sent you a PM of how to kill it, the reward for killing it is,
-Great Sword
-2 Potions
-2 Ethers
-1 Elixir

-we might make no GM boxes, but they are basically for questions not talking, or just important stuff
-Dialogue I can easily do

Also

Has anyone even had a go at Saving or had a look at Saving and Loading? :P

69poomaster69: You really should switch to gm7. Hundreds of thousands of people are either using vista or switching to it, and since gm6 was made with gm windows, it doesn't work on vista. You should just download gm7, open the gm6 file, and save it as an executable.

Yup. Game maker 7 can open game maker 6 files. Save the game using gm7 and boom! you have a compatible game for vista! ;)

That doesn't make any sense! If you can't use Game Maker 6 itself on Vista, why would the executables it creates work?

And why not switch? Your only loosing potential players, which will get bigger as Vista becomes more and more the 'standard' OS. Besides, it's not like you have to really put all the effort into switching besides downloading gm7! The only incompatibility is some crazy room transition getup that nobody really did anyways.

Sorry if anything sound rude or whatever, but COME ON it's painfully true!

I think you should change the Main Menu to be mouse controlled.

It seems kind of weird and confusing seeing a mouse but being unable to control the menu with it.

I was also attracted to this thread because I remember "Fight for Survival", I made a banner for you.

The non-original music and Chrono Cross character portraits kind of ruined the game for me. I'm sure it's a good game, but I was just kind of put off by that.

slinky6 - you shouldn't just get put off by the unoriginal music and the faces, i mean come on, they're little things to be fixed, and will be fixed. But did you even play for a bit? Give it a go, it's actually well put together and some of the attacks is awesome (the limit breaks)..Also, the saving and loading screens are great! There was a lot of effort put into this game and i think you should give it a go!

I used 1 background and 1 sprite which ive allready gotten rid of in my actual game, because i felt stealing more then 2 things was a bit mean...

Also, the Chrono Cross portraits are actually edited, so that none of them, are the actual ones from the game, and if they are the hair is different coloured

Yer but give it a go ey,

Oceanweapon: Im using the background because, no one would create 1 for me, and considering i needed one desperately, i couldn't be bothered asking coz i thought you'd say no, and since this isnt a serious professional selling game, i see no harm , have a go, give it a rating, its different now, EDIT: different as, in the first time you probably played it that is :)

Also the reason why the Chrono Cross Music and The Final Fantasy aspects are in the game, are mainly because i wanted to create a game which blended the game together uniquely

Enjoy the game, and if possible, give a rating, especially Slinky6, i want you to now have a look at the game, if i have changed your mind at all

Oh if you just asked I would have say yes ;) but anyway... Ive played your game i got up to the boss in the temple but his hp was too high and when i died I didnt want to do the training thing again because it was waaaay too hard :(

p.s this was version one :)

i can see that not having the game as a gm7 is causing some problems so i will get 69poomaster69 to create executables of both gm6 and gm7 when he gets home from footy.

Hey :( that was great :o loved it that last battle with the ghost thing was great ::lmao:: and the limit break is awesome aswell ;) 9.5/10

just a a glitch i found in the dead tower(i think it was called) well the blocks that moved often got stuck to eachother and i had to commit suicide for them to move again.

anyway great game ::lmao:: and oh good thing you made the training a bit easier :)

p.s are you going to add like specials? like in ff?

Ok back from footy, ill see what I can do, i probably just have to untick those solid boxes, thanks for the reply ocean weapon, you know you can save your game, so that you dont get stuck, refer to screenshots to have a look at saving :)
