Hi,why 99% of peaple here don't like GM7.0?Cause it loads longer? For softwrap?I like GM7 for new functions and better speed(really!on my old computer-444Mhz it run's like on 30Ghz supercomputer's,and the games too!)...and for easier(and intelligent) help.
EDIT:And for extensions. No more 3000 scripts in scripts category(for dlls)!

Because it is, has been, and always will be cool to be a hater.

Oooohhh... cool new technology? IT SUCKS!!!

But you know everyone who is complaining is an in the closet GM7 lover... they just want to be cool.

I like GM7.0, and I think that most people like it.
I just think that the people who don't like it, make a big fuss about it, but the people who do like it, don't say much.

We already know what sucks about it. Softwrap and EULA. I'd like to hear the good points. All I can think of is a few more functions and a better plugin system.

Anyone care to add more?

@frank34443 Actually using a third-party protection scheme makes GM a bigger target for attacks. Much more crackers working on beating Softwrap then an inexpensive, non-mainstream game development program like GM 5 or 6.

Again with the EULA! There is nothing wrong with it - it's a standard EULA, written by an actual lawyer.

Again, just pointing out a popular reason GM7 is disliked. Why do you like GM7 Fred? Give us some info for Dany  I honestly can't think of more. That website link at the bottom left-hand side is something people either like or dislike. I try to ignore it myself.

I find it hilarious that people have even bothered to read the EULA and take it seriously. Like, people feel totally hamstringed by this EULA, but with GM6.1 felt totally free to make illegal ports and clones of major IPs despite that Copyright law is much more imposing than a cover-our-asses EULAs.

Comparing the GM EULA to something like the WindowsXP and VISTA EULAs makes GM look like some sort of community service versus the EULA-rights-exising-prison that is Windows (not that I'm bashing microsoft... juwts making a comparison.) Yet everyone is still using windows.

Get a grip.

And that button... oh the damn complaints about the button. YoYoGames says "hey, here's a quick link to our website so if you get stuck in GM7, the whole community is only a mouse-click away." And everybody cries foul. It's like smacking the referee for handing you the ball after a play. They're trying to help you out.

Gratitude people.

If GM7 is so freakin' lousy, then people can simply go and make their own game authoring tool.

I for one find the quality of software and attention to the [largely ungrateful] community to be awesome at a $20 price level.

Instead of arguing about how we dislike what people dislike about GM7 why don't we focus on the new features we should get excited about?

Like I said, everyone knows what is disliked. Not one post after mine has explained the features better than 5 or 6.

Say, how about the up-and-coming game posting system? That should be a better feature.

sure thing:

One feature that I use a lot now, is as I make scripts, I export them and bring them into the extension maker... creating an extension for my scripts lets me view my scripts in the help window under the main code entry IDE. Which is really helpful because it reminds me what the syntax is for the script... thus eliminating the need to shut the code entry window and open the script to remind myself.

I've also begun using the random seed generator to begin adding procedural content to my games.

Here's a partial list of everything I can come up with off the top of my head... The first two items alone were enough for me to make the jump.

· Fixed accuracy bug
· Vista compatibility
· Extension packages
· Better file include system
· PNG / alpha channel support for images
· Enhanced data structure functions
· Splash screen functionality
· Slightly more secure
· Publishing system
· Improved room transitions
· More game information can be entered
· A bunch of other functions that I have yet to use, but are nevertheless there

I love gm 7.0 and a like YOYO. But why would I post a topic about it? You see, only the people that DON'T like either of the two post about it to show their frustration. Therefore it looks like everyone hates it/them. Same with sigs. I have not yet seen a sig that says "I LOVE YOYO GAMES AND GM 7.0!!!" the only ones ABOUT those topics is just stating how horrid the world is and how GM is coming to an end. They just want attention.

I have no problem with the EULA. But I am curious, how do you know it was written by an actual lawyer, did Mark Overmars or someone else at YoYo Games tell you it was? :) :D :)

And the bad stuff about it....

· Cant use any thing below windows 2000 to play them
· Bigger file sizes
· Can't use g-flash or g-java...
· You can't get it illegaly (maybe why people hate it?)

anyway i got gm6.1 reg and gm7 pro but i still use gm6.1....

People are generally sceptical about progress.

Especially when it's unavoidable
