hey thats not bad, pretty smart, develop some more standard and more flushed out spritesheets for gamemakers to use.

id love to see a few airplane/boat/projectile sheets.

also:

you should put each of these pictures on their own grid so players can make a sprite sheet right out of the box without having to line them all up. more miscilanious sprites less specific sprites (why did you do the guitar?!). for example, 3 or 4 stand sprites because these are the kind of things you see the character do all the time, he shouldn't be static if you can help it. like falling also needs more templates if you follow.

also turning. ^_^

edit2: GAH ALSO TERRAIN!

Woot! Thank you for all of your suggestions! That's exactly what I was hoping I would get! I will put all of your suggestions, in addition to a few that I just thought of, in a list on the main post. I'll mark progress and updates to the sprites that way. Keep in mind that I'm a very slow updater, and probably won't get to your suggestions in a timely fashion, but I'll do my best!

hey this'll come in very handy for a lot of people (a no-brainer but i'm saying it anyway... :) )

I like the idea of OUTLINEMAN...that'd make an interesting series! B)

As for terrain/weapons/items, those can vary very greatly from game to game, but yeah, a basic outline would be pretty good. Personally, though, for terrain i just use MS Paint, make a bunch of hill-like shapes, spray-paint them and use GM's sprite editor to blur them. Works quite well...but i do agree, a template would help a lot of games.

I give this idea 10/10. ^_^

EDIT: Actually...come to think of it...if needed i might be able to make a few of those listed but unmade poses. I deal mainly in mimicry when spriting for others...depends, though, on how much free time i have.

Okay, you can bump after 24 hours IF you have important updates to add. Which I do. The sheet has been updated with turning, dying, swimming, flying, sneaking, and...something else that I forgot!

Please, keep your suggestions coming!

Suggestions:

Attacking mid-air

Rolling (like "summersault" rolling, not cartwheel. To transition from crouching as well)

Crawling(To continue from croutching)

Slideing across the ground (XD, the last one does work, Nevermind XD, but some transitions still might be nice)

Shooting (with a gun)

More animations for jumping and falling. Also, jumping/Falling backwards (like facing left and rising, but leaning forward or backwards some)

Landing/Getting up (For after you jump)

Activate Lever (Pull a lever on the ground/wall. Include the levers with the same number of frames, but seperate)

Backdash (Dodge backwards, like in Castlevania)

Running (going from a stand to run, and walk to run, and vice verse (like when you are going from run to walk it would be a sprite of him sliding, which could lead to him loosing his ballence and almost falling forward... WHICH COULD LINK TO TRIPPING (Read ahead for tripping))

Out of breath idle stance (for when you are low on health or you just ran alot or something)

Tripping (I know, random~ But it would be cool if you had an RPG with dexterity (hand-eye co-ordination/flexibilty) and if your dexterity level was really low, you would trip every now and then.

Edit: Sorry, I ment to elaborate more, but my mom called me, so when I got back, I thought I did and went on to the next. I ment transitions for running. As for Ducking/Rolling, I ment rolling that would transistion from your ducking sprite (or croutching as you labeled it). Sorry for the misunderstanding.

You said you were not very good at spriting... but people forget that knowing how to draw plays a good role in designing graphics. If you can draw, you can design graphics.

Well, I can't draw well either.

And I'm sorry that I didn't update as fast as last time. Not only are there more suggestions (thanks to halfofastaple primarily, JJsoft, and Jackal) but I went back to school and *blah blah blah excuses excuses*. Progress is still going, however more slowly. :D Hopefully after *blah blah same excuses reworded blah* then I'll *blah resolutions that will inevitably fail blah blah*.

Yay! We decided your template is the best, meaning it will be the baseline of our game! Congrats! You just made it into our credits, weather you like it or not! [Special thanks: ..... Sprites: ...... chumbucket (Or whatever you want us to put)]

Hey, if you want to play the beta version sometime in the future, I'll make sure to let you have "invisable" clothes, thus allowing you to be "OUTLINEMAN" and play "THE BEGINING" of the game.... ummm.... WHAT IS THE WEATHER "?"... (I needed a question mark XD...)

Well that's good :D I hope my sprites will only get better.

I really didn't expect to get comments this good or any sort of publicity whatsoever with my first big spriting project. 0.o Things didn't go nearly this well when I tried to make a full-blown game...Thanks for all of your wonderful suggestions & comments! ;) If you have any more ideas, by all means post them!

Tikki- That's a very good way of explaining a walking animation, but I knew that already. You should be able to identify the contact points and such in my walking animation, although I only have 6 frames instead of 8. Perhaps someone else will find it useful!
