Thanks for all who supported this in the cage match. Love it, Hate it, if you haven't replyed do so now!

Best played with sound up very LOUD!
------------------------------
"In a world beyond the compelling desire to magnify the very essence of mediocrity in the void of existence, a solitary protagonist stands up to challenge the thoughts and emotions of the idealism bearing down upon these tortured times. Answers are for interpretation and the message is for those who can comprehend the magnitude of illusions that will lead to destiny and the battles against those foes who oppose accomplishment. But in the closing stages, people will always hate what they can’t understand."

It's not about screenshots or gameplay, and just because you couldn't understand the description doesn't mean it's vague. The only way is to play it and find out, anyways the banner is pretty much what the game looks like.

Its such a true game...we do hate what we cant understand. I was so inspired I searched the web for things that I dont understyand, and this really tops it off. Freaky and disturbing, a torn look of sides from our near antiheroes twisted and faithless preditiction of a universe.

Impressive graphics, extremely impressive graphics. I'm getting slightly tired at these types of games, though. Just because the game is artistic, doesn't mean that the gameplay have to be over simplified.

But I do appreciate the game! Not as much as I would if I hadn't played the La La Land series first, though ::lmao::

Then go play one. No one forces you to play these.

BTW, how is this an outlet for frustrations in the world? It's just a game entered into a competition I made on GMClans.

Thanks to all who have replyed! For whoever asked if there was an alternate ending, there isn't, but in many ways the entire game is based on interpretation, so it can end however you feel it should.

Well, somones just a sunshiney cherub blossom today, aren't they? I bet u got loads of friends...
But seriously, this IS art, a furious and twisted interreptation of a society driven by fear, one that hides in the lights and denies the existence of the shadows, because they dont want it to be there. Our protagonist/antagonist? is a lost soul in this single minded society, whos mind has opened up new possibilities... become a danger to the way of life that is now common and etiquitte.

He knew people would react that way to this game because people are starting to grow weary of these lala land clones, so he gave it that title on purpose.
People don't like it not because they don't understand, but because it lacks gameplay. Even if they did find that so called wonderful message, it wouldn't matter etheir way, cause they don't care and it won't change the way they think.
I personally liked it though, the effects were pretty cool.

As I'm at work, I haven't been able to play the game, so I won't comment on it. However, I found the description lacking. All we learn is that it's pretty weird looking, and that it should be played loud. The rest is just a description of the setting, which I personally found overly angsty and turgid.

Still, people seem to like it, so I'll probably download it when I get home.

Edit: Having played it, it was pretty cool. I liked the visuals and sound, and the "story" and "dialogue" were pretty funny. Not exactly what I'd call profound, but interesting.

@ spikeesam: Are you getting paid to prop up this game and tell people they have low IQs if they don't like it? And whatever do you mean by saying that the title wasn't chosen on purpose? Of course it was--I'd hate to see any finished product that had that much time and effort invested, yet was "accidentally" named.

As for the game, I like it quite a bit. It hasn't got much replay value, it's too short, and it's not engaging enough to be the sort of game I would play regularly, but it does what it means to do, and it does it well.

The last offbeat game I played was billed as "surrealist," but utterly failed in that it not only broke several key principles of surrealism, but also that it didn't bother to include me, the player, in the experience. I like how this "thingee," while it is just as scripted and linear as the aforementioned failure, has an element of causality. Sure, I can't really control anything, and whatever I do, good or bad, comes back to bite me, but at least I can do stuff. That's the important part in interactive media--that I'm thrown into a place I can't understand but I have goal formation. It gives me things to play for. So, not a bestseller, but fun to look at, and I don't walk away feeling bitter (it also helps that it's a bit tongue-in-cheek--you aren't doing the whole indignant "you just can't handle how sophisticated I can think" thing)

Yeah, next time I make a game I'll name it "If you don't like this game, you are a child rapist" Then, anyone that doesn't like it is admitting they rape children. That makes perfect sense!

What a fool, to belive that you are intelligent for tacking yourself onto a trend of poor game design and thoughtless following. Congratulations.

I downloaded this, and it is very, VERY good. The graphics are incredible (the changing music was a nice touch as well) and the the whole thing very surreal, but the message comes out loud and clear. There are several ways to interperet it, and none of them good, but all of them true... 10/10

No, I wouldn't call it a game. But what it is and does, it does well.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Well actually it's quite different, your game would probably get banned and statement is completly false, where as the message in my game is accurate. You hate the game and you obviously don't understand it, to be fair, you at least don't understand the appeal it has to many people. So no matter how much you try to deny it, you have already proved my point. Also when did I claim to be a fool believing that I am "intelligent for tacking yourself onto a trend of poor game design and thoughtless following"? Firstly I am not a fool, calm down it's only a game, so lay off the personal attacks. It was made for a competition and was made like this on purpose.

Anyways peace, I don't want this topic to turn into a flame war.

I thank the people who have given constructive feed back, as for the title, I didn't intentionaly make it to be ironical to begin with, but it did occur to me that the reaction would be as it is. Besides, the title is only the tip of the ice berg, the game has a lot more messages than that single sentence.

If I ever make another one of these I'll be sure to incorporate some more game play, but I'm pleased with how this turned out. I also intentionaly concentrated mostly on the art form and ideas, it makes people focus more on the concepts and messages presented rather than how to make the next jump.
