All of the links in the Nintendo Music/Sounds except the Super Smash Bros. Melee Sound Effects lead to either 404 or 403 errors.

Moderator Edit: links removed.

I've made some tunes on Newgrounds in case you need some scary or metal music for your games. Royalty free as long as you credit me. :)

Midi-Share:
http://midi-share.co.cc/ - Important information
http://midi-share.co.cc/midi/ - Actual Midi's

Not much there right now but it is new and there are some composers interested (But they haven't finished their stuff for the site yet) Relatively new site and supports guest upload from midi composers.

ONLY midi's also some midi's will require you to give credit to the composer or not use it in a commerical project whilst others with the "Freedom" license allow you to do whatever you wish with them.

You should add MilkyTracker, it's far better and more easy to use than Nerd Tracker II

Hey Chronic,

I would recommend adding Orion by Synapse-Audio to the TOOLS section. Alternatively, what do you think about pulling programs like Fruity and Orion out and putting them under a VIRTUAL STUDIO section? In any case, here's the link for Orion:

Another tool for the list: SFXR.

It generates a variety of random sound effects in the style of older consoles, like coin, powerup, explosion, impact and shooting noises.

It's very useful and simple to use.

http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

Audacity is what I use for editing and converting music and sound effects, it's pretty good, in my opinion.

EDIT: Nevermind, it's already on the list :(

Linux MultiMedia Studio

It works on Windows, and Im guessing it works on Linux aswell. Its a completely free music making program (not a trial) thats similar to FruityLoops.

I noticed a couple good softwares missing.

First off, sfxr: http://www.drpetter....oject_sfxr.html
This is an incredibly easy to use 8-bit sound effect maker, and practically a must-have if you want to quickly make some original sound effects yourself. This has been mentioned a dozen times already--seriously, it needs to be added to the list!

And I just recently discovered PXTone: http://buzinkai.net/PXTone/tutorial/
Of all the music composition programs I've encountered, this one is the easiest to use. This is supposedly the program Pixel used to compose the music for Cave Story (some backstory: Pixel has absolutely no musical background, and essentially composed all the music by placing notes at random until they sounded good. And Cave Story's soundtrack turned out plenty awesome, if you've never heard it.)

And apparently there's a DLL out there that lets yo play the PXTone custom format in GM (though it can also export .wavs): http://www.cursesfoi...-for-gamemaker/

I'm a composer and I share all of my stuff freely under creative commons. You can use my stuff in your non-commercial projects and I only ask that you give me a mention in the credits. I primarily do MP3's, though  I do have a few midis on my page. I love experimenting with new styles and themes so you'll hear a lot of variety in my stuff. Here are a few pieces I've done.

Utopia - My newest piece. Really tropical sounding.
Drilling the Surface - Industrial rock
Black and White - Spaced out mystical sounding electronic piece
River Cycles - Ambient acoustic guitar
Pixel Puzzles - Electronic / chip tunes
Shades of Green - Mellow down-tempo electronic piece with electric guitar solo
Circus in the Sky - Carnival themed electronic piece with electric guitars
At Sea - Really mellow and minimalist chip tunes style song
The Heat Wave Machine - Industrial rock with a middle eastern theme
Castle Peak - Mellow electronic piece
Ivy - Experimental post-rock inspired piece
Digital Waltz - Minimalist, dark, and ambient electronic piece
Ghosts - Industrial
Sky Blue - Up beat electronic piece with catchy guitar riffs
Silver - Laid back and somewhat eerie electric guitar piece
Paintings of War - Indian themed with a heavy rock build up at the end
Summer - Extremely cheesy electronic pop piece. Would work great for a cutesy platformer!

Youtube link to a compilation of clips from my songs

Theres a whole lot more here on my webpage.
