WORD STRUCK IS NOW FREEWARE, DOES NOT REQUIRE INTERNET TO INSTALL.

I have finally finished my Word Struck game and brought it up to version 1.0. There have been alot of updates in this last release.

Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image

For those who don't know about Word Struck yet, it is a game where you match cards together much like in UNO, but then try to highlight the letters in a word. To get the hang of it, I encourage you to try out the new tutorial.

Screen 1 | Screen 2 | Screen 3 | Screen 4 | Screen 5 | Screen 6

You can download Word Struck below.
Link 1 - WordStruckInstaller.exe (12.6 MB) - cycododge.com
Link 2 - WordStruck.zip (13.4 MB) - cycododge.com
Link 3 - WordStruck.zip (13.4) - 64digits.com

The new release highlights are:

*Enhanced music functions
*Music
*Passworded online games
*Redesigned interface
*Tutorial
*Better player identification

You can see all of the 55 updates by clicking here, and see all kinds of player statistics by clicking here.

Word Struck is created with GM 6.1 and uses these fine dll's.
*soc.dll [3.1]
*GetIP.dll [2.0]
*gmhttp2.dll
*saudio.dll [1.0.1.1]
*dtzip.dll
*unzdll.dll
*zipdll.dll

Registration isn't required.

Tucows.com just updated Word Struck in their database so a link is now provided for quicker downloads. Installer only, sorry.

Hi,
Although registration is not required, you should mention that the program must have access the internet, before it will run, also it is mild adware.

The main problem in my opinion is the very short, 25-30min trial time, this is incredibly annoying if you have just spent ages downloading 14Mb on 56k dialup.
It takes longer to download, than you can play for.

Not amused.

Good, thank you for your feedback! What do you consider a good trial time/use amount?

Why does it have to have access to the internet? Does the protection software do that? I haven't had that problem. And is the protection software what you consider adware?

::EDIT::

I just tested it on another computer and I apologize about the required internet access. Having broadband myself I was never aware. I will try to find an alternative to this protection software.

Hi,

What do you consider a good trial time/use amount?

Personally I would say about five days, this gives you long enough to find out if you would like to purchase the game.
For instance I used my favorite game Pax Galaxia for about a month (feature restricted) before I decided to buy it.
With only thirty minutes I am still getting the hang of the game, I haven't decided if I like it or not and certainly would never buy a game with such a short trial.

Why does it have to have access to the internet?  Does the protection software do that?

Yes it was the protection software, it wasn't a great problem, I just clicked past each screen, but it will put a lot of people off.

The adware is the advert for "share your life", which I assume is the song.

These aren't great problems, but you should make it clearer on your web site, as many people will be put off from trying your program, when that somewhat suspicious looking registration window appears.

I had originally gone with a 15-use trial, I think I will go back to that. The thing is with Protexis (this protection software), they handle everything so its really easy for me. I'm not sure what to do about that yet.

About the "Adware". That's just an advert for a good friend of mine. And it is set up so anybody can change it with an advertisement from their own website just in case they host the file.

I would be happy with 15 uses. :GM6:

That's fair enough, although I'm not too keen on the page dedicated to it, I would have thought it would be better as a smaller picture on the title page, perhaps with some text saying "Sonny Bey performing Share your life" and a link underneath for the web site. But that's just my opinion.

By the way, I liked the mini media player in the game.

Okay, I updated two of the links with 15 use trial (tucows.com wont update for a month). The picture is actually the cover art for his CD. LoL I guess I better do a better job with the 'advertisement'. The CD is 'Share Your Life' and the song is 'I'm Free'. Thank you very much for your feedback, I really appreciate it.

Ok, I made the game freeware again, and added a link to 64digits.com for download. It no longer requires the internet to install. Sorry about that.
