I love Chrono Trigger, Secret of Mana, and Diablo I and II, but then I enjoy myself with a little Starcraft action as well.
Adventure games are good.
And the FPS genre... I've just never been very good at it. Whether that's because I don't play them often or if it's the other way around, I'm not sure.

DotA is a map in Warcraft 3.. DotA is NOT an RPG.. It's just a map you can play in Warcraft 3 that has a different goal than the normal maps in it.. >.>DotA is RPG and many Warcraft 3 players play DotA.

Returning on-topic, other games like Crash or Spyro were great (until their new unneeded versions) and this is why i love platform games!
sometimes i wish some massive industries could create new character instead of always relasing Mario, but that's buisness matter and i do not want to talk about it here (even because it's not allowed at all)

Plus I love classic PC adventure games and Zelda.
Simulation games (Harvest Moon, Spore, Black & White, Sims) and (SOME) RPG games are also fine by me. (By "some" I mean the ones that don't contain samey boring turn-based fighting, I prefer a fighting style like Dark Cloud 2 had, and I mostly stick to action WRPGs like Two Worlds 2 and Oblivion even if they are bugged all to hell.)
I like seeing new ideas though, Flower is one of my favorite games, and I generally appreciate any game that tells a story through art and interaction much more than a game that only serves to offer a challenge. It's not that I don't appreciate a challenge every once in a while (Within my genre. Puzzles are fun, bosses and fast-paced jumping/shooting/dodging are not, unless the boss is a puzzle like in Shadow of the Colossus.) but I don't play video games to get frustrated, at least not without a reason. In a game like Flower, it tells a story, one that managed to invoke deep feelings in me with no narrative outside the artist's ability to drive home a point with visual story telling. Or a game like Cave Story which is very old-school but still manages to have a deep meaning behind the plot, it gives you this sense of purpose through a story that I consider very sad, but that still manages to maintain a rated E feeling. I won't spoil anything for people who haven't played but the sacrifices the characters make for the protagonist, all toward one ultimate goal of saving millions of people, really makes you want to keep going and put an end to all the suffering. It paints the picture of a bleak situation and desperate measures, I think it's a perfect example of excellent writing.

Hehe...I noticed this guy joined the GMC just to make that post based on the fact that he joined and posted on the same day.I'm getting discouraged in finishing my puzzle game because of only a few votes for puzzle games as their favorite genre. By the way...First post! Yay for 12 year olds! Anyway my favorite game genre is probably RPG. They have high replay value (for me, that is since all RPG's that I've played have been played again at least twice), and have lot's of decisions to make.
RPG is definitely my favourite genre especially because of Final Fantasy 12 but I have no idea why it didn't have huge popularity? FFX was actually more popular but it was crap compared to 12...Why?

Wow, its amazing to see that RPGs are the favorite, and yet the GMC has so few RPG games.
That's probably because they are so difficult to create (and create well)...
