Hopefully this will cut down on the amount of one-sentence topics in the W.I.P forum!

Hmm... Maybe that's directly related to most of my games being fairly successful. *hint hint*
Edit:
I just thought I'd say this: I never download games with a poorly constructed topic, which is the same for a lot of members here.

Though a few things came to my attention, the emoticons, I might agree not to use much emoticons in your topic but why specifically them? For example: '
also I've got a little suggestion, .doc format only works with word right(sorry if I'm wrong), the point is, there might be people that don't have word so keep in mind to not use formats people might not be able to read.
also:
winrar can compress zip, so just compress zip not rar, but I think winrar is a lot better than winzip so you might want to change that.Make sure anyone can get access to your game; compress your game with WinZip, not WinRAR
I agree, unless you want to test fps and other speed or compatibility issues.Make the game seem like a game, not an engine. Give your game a menu system, a customised loading screen, and even its own icon. One of your biggest aims is to make the game look and feel like it isn't created with Game Maker; that’s what shocks people the most.
In that case it's better to have as few things as possible, it might affect speed or system requirements.
But all in all very nice guide, sorry if you felt offended, I didn't mean to.

I know how to do this. Post a topic with a very very bad host, very bad game, no screenshots, the game is supposed to be oversized, it should change the screen resolution even though you said it shouldnt and it should be made in GM 6.1 while you said it was made in GM 5.3.Guide To Raising Replies On Gm Releases
Now you are guaranteed to get replies!

What does it need to be updated with? I've check all the suggestions, if anything is worth putting in i'll update it. But otherwise, it's up-to-date as far as i'm concerned.Rhys, this is good but needs to be updated.

but add that "tests" arent a good idea, they dont serve much of a purpose, people lie on them anyways.....

As true as that may seem, tests are a matter of opinion and i'm sure there are some people that enjoy them. This guide is not advising users on what type of games they should release, but more a guide on how they can make their game look most attractive when being advertised.but add that "tests" arent a good idea, they dont serve much of a purpose, people lie on them anyways.....

That part really made me laugh.
I must say I'm very happy you posted this here.
Not only do I find this very helpfull for myself,
I also hope it will clean up this forum a bit.
Cause lately there's about a 1/10 chance that
the topic is formal/gives enough information.
(And I also must say that's it's good to see that there
are still some polite, and formal people left on the GMC.)
SUGGESTION:
Maybe you should also post an example of a correct topic.
Thanks very much for posting this,
Hero Yuy.

I completely agree with thebogeyman. For one, if you are not satisfied with the reviews you have received, chances are you should take a look at your creation from another angle. For two, asking someone you know well to respond calls in for a biased post, a biased review and a biased rating if one is given. I've read several topics where friends from the topic starter replied how often, and it's not a good way, in my opinion, to bump your topic.Make sure you got a few people who are willing to reply. Use them like lifelines.. If your topic is many pages down and you're not satisfied with the reviews, or you've updated and don't want to reply yourself, ask someone to respond for you. Don't make them reply if they have already, don't beg (just ask once), and don’t' just ask anyone; ask someone you know well.
I may read all of the topic later. Right now, my eyes aren't up for reading around 60% of a post written in blue. For the parts I read, those are some nice advise RhysAndrews.
