Level Editor
v1.3 By Evilish
GM6/.1 registered

Download From Site (56KB)

Mirror (RS Upload)

The following are executables for those without GM6Reg, they still contain the background bug and don't include any of the features with the NEW innfront of them

Executable Zip (1MB)

Executable Rar (1MB)

The free source easy to use level editor is extremely easy to setup compared to others, needing only the scripts to create a new level editor from scratch, read the readme script for more details

The current version has:
- Background loading, with movement speed
- File saving and loading
- Easy to use with only one script needed to be called for level editor objects
- Temporary file playing, test a level before saving it
NEW - Music playing
NEW - Automatic deletion of unwanted backgrounds/sounds
NEW - 'play' script is now automatic, it will now detect the objects that need to be changed to play the level
NEW - Display of objects name, script automaticly gets name
NEW - Code showing how to end the play

Things to come
- Infinite size rooms(ability to set size...)
- Tools, such as fill and line
- Linked files

- Evilish

Controls for .exe(Controls for source are now onscreen buttons)

Escape: End game
A: Load level
S: Save level
D: Clear level
F: Play level

The .exe versions will not be updated from now on, why should I have to spend my time uploading files just for the unregistered people to 'try them out'. This is meant to be a engine to use to make a level editing system for your game

It's very interesting to me how you guys over there come up with more and more engines/dev. apps made from, and for GM :medieval:

Pretty cool... great work.
I have a request/suggestion for you guys over there at gamecave.
Ever consider coming up with an ISO editor?

Check my siggy for an example of what I mean... I started one, but never got around to finishing it.

I think It would be pretty sweet if you guys pushed one out.

WOOOT!!! I have been waiting for a decent level editor. I can make one and stuff but i never knew how to make it so you can play the level you created. I will possibly use this in one of my later games. Good job but i cant exit. I had to press ctrl+alt+delete and end the task.

because I'm nice

What was I thinking when I wrote that?
Anyway, fixed kr_default's bug...
If your using the executable, and still want to avoid the bug, set a background image, thats all you need to do

Their are two executable downloads, I just haven't got enough time to re-upload the latest versions of them, the small source files are easy but the .exe can take awhile for me, something I really don't have alot of right now

Actually, unreg people are allowed to use our progs as much they want.. just it wont WORK for unreg people. This is not our fault, why should we be limited to unregistered functions just so that unregistered people can use our programs freely? I guess you could take these programs as a gift for those who decided to pay for registration; instead of cry that being unregistered isn't fair because you don't get what registered users do. Also consider that Mark Overmars has written thousands (possibly hundreds of thousands) of lines of code and given it away for free.

I don't mean to boast, but have you considered the fact we could create progs and not even let the registered use it? Just remember we're writing programs soley to give it to you guys.

Regards

v1.3 out now
Changed a few things, especially with how the levels played
deleted and added some objects to the selection
Gave a cool looking mouse enter effect for objects
Fixed the rest of the errors I've found

You know, something seems fishy about GameCave.

Rude and offensive team members for instance.

Firefox can't find the server at evilworld.90megs.com.

mirror works though.

This is pretty confusing for me, but I'm not that good with GM when it comes to scripts, so... Anyway, I am working on making a lvl editor for my trippy bowling game, and you guys will get credit, OK? this thing sure beats txt files lol

I find nothing rude and offensive about them. I would actually have to say they are really nice for releasing everything I've seen them release. People just don't appreciate it enough, like for this, unregistered users for example.

Wow. I've been looking for something JUST like this for TOPDOWN. I very well may use it.

Some suggestions:
> Tell the users that SHIFT lets you place multiple instances, like in the GM room editor
> Like you said: lines, boxes, ellipses, and fill would be nice
> Encryption on the level files using a developer-defined key

Sorry for lateness

The level editor won't be updated for awhile, this is because Rhys wants me to create a bajillion extra things for it for his game...

Also, I'm working on a PerfectRTS system now

Unfortunately, yes, Evilish has had to leave us. Main reason is that i believe he works MUCH better individually, or with just a few people.

You know, something seems fishy about GameCave.

Rude and offensive team members for instance.

I guess you can all have your views about us.. nothing fishy though; we are as we present ourselves.
