  • Title: Username And Password
  • Description: A simple method to allow "logging in" in your game. Examples uses might include allowing multiple players to store "accounts", or games involving simulated secret agent kinds of stuff. This is a very, very basic beginner tutorial to just demonstrate how some of GM's built-in functionality can be combined for this kind of interaction.
  • GM Version: :GM81: :GM8: :GM7: :GM6: :GM5:
  • Registered: insert yes if it requires Pro, otherwise, no
  • File Type: .gmd
  • File Size: ~9.51Kb
  • File Link: userName_and_password.gmd
  • Required Extensions: N/A
  • Required DLLs: N/A
  • Summary
Click a box, type in your userName. The text appears at the cursor as you type.
Click another box, type in your password. *'s appear at the cursor as you type.
You can get the values locally or globally, depending on your use.
    It's really quite simple!

Written in GM5, no registration needed. All code and functions may be copied directly into GM6, all are compatible.
A comment about accessing the variables (for checking and doing actions afterwards) is in the game info.

But i made a version 6.1 editble, and you'll need to be registered.
But you can run this without registration, just remove the 'draw_text_transformed" from the two control objs

I made an example of how to save the information to the harddrive also, if anyone would like that. That way the user could also easily log on to a previously create account:

Also how to make a "real" input box which is not limited to a certain number of characters.

tsa05, I really like your example though. Very nice work

If you don't have those objects, it won't work!
and to add more user input (more fields), just add more global variables.

This works in GM6 and GM7 without any changes. To load it make sure you select "Old Game Maker files" in the file selector.
