As with a lot of issues with Ark 22, I'd recommend playing it on a clean-ish machine... and with patience. I can only imagine using Windows 7 makes things worse, just because.
My computer has never been cleaner, actually. Oh well.
Maybe if you make a new exe with GM8?

I'd imagine that a lot of the code is out dated. Remember some of the functions changed from 7 to 8, which means the older version of GM don't have those changes. It would require a bit of work to change it all.
I think this was created with GM5 or 6, nawt with 7

Thats all I have to say about that.
However there are a few bugs, nothing dammaging the staggering reputation the game has earnt itself in my mind, but enough to dent imersion.
Alot of the creep death animations are using sprites without transparent backgrounds, it createds a black rectangle ingame because of this.
certain creeps, vexingly the first boss fight, have found ways to get outside the play areas of a room, and then they get stuck, I suggest double layering your wall objects to prevent diagonal movement to the outside.
Money looses its value once it becomes an issue of just reloading some ice again and again untill your pouch is full...
When I break the ice there is a substancial delay before the item spawn, suggest setting item height < ice height, and making the spawn instant, then we get to see what we have smashed out of the ice emerge.
These minor issues are literaly ALL I CAN FIND, and they realy are minor, this is a staggering game with a perfect aplication of care and polish!

I defeated the mini-boss with the several orbs, proceeded three rooms to the right, and then down a room (so you'd be directly right of the first room you enter on that floor; it has three orbs rotating around pillars). I went down that room, and then to the left (so I'd be in the room that's split in half, with a save point and enemy on the left). I hit the switch, causing an obstacle to be placed in the prior room.
I have no idea what to do now. I think I have to cause the power to go out in the room with the orbs and pillars I mentioned above, but I can't figure out how to do that.
Can anybody help me? Thanks in advance
Oh, and excellent game so far. Very fun.

You know what? I what I would really like to see is this game remade with GM 8.0, get all the bugs ironed out, and make it fast. That would be really great.
and also along ass time to recode

However I need some help. I have two questions.
1. I am stuck on the fight in Chapter 2 after the timed part where your speedboat thing blows up if you take too long. Is there some secret to beating this part or is it just a matter of repeatedly shooting the monster?
2. Does anyone know where I can find a money pouch that can hold more that 500 credits?
Sorry if these questions have already been asked

I found a remaining bug: during the prologue, after detecting the planet, the game froze when the elevator got back to the main deck. I restarted the game 2 or 3 times and it didn't happen again, so I don't know if it's a real game bug or some kind of incompatibility...
I have a request: I need a walkthrough. Badly. I've searched through ALL the 51 pages (!) of this thread, 2 or 3 people apparently made some but all the links are dead and, despite the quite large number of people asking for walkthroughs, they were never posted again. This is a really good game, but the puzzles are too mind-boggling for me. It's supposed to be a Zelda-like Adventure RPG, not a puzzle game! If I wanted a puzzle game, I would play Myst. So pleeeaaaaase Srehpog, or the people who posted those walkthroughs, do something about it! Thanx.

@bfg:
Zelda games have many puzzles, last time I checked.

Absoliutely brilliant in every aspect. The story was especially great, I thought.
I did everything, so I guess I got the good ending, can someone please tell me what the bad ending is.

I got up to the pyramid boss but then accidently overwrote my save file on the first dungeon!
Anyway fantastic game. This is definately one of the best games made with game maker. I think there should be a hint system and maybe the ability to upgrade your weapons.
9.75/10.
