Flood

The goal of this platform game is simple: just escape from the water.
You think that's easy? Well, it's not.

This game has sixteen different types of obstacles, in total there are over 100 obstacles!

Here are some other advantages:
- Nice graphics and many particles
- Enormous level: 640×7280 pixels
- Auto-hiding scorecard
- Nice music
- Joystick/gamepad support

Pretty good. But the green dot things should reappear after 5-10 seconds.

I really wanted to love this game, since the presentation is so well-done, but the engine is just way too clunky and unfriendly.

Examples:
-Grabbing the green dots, I jump into them but apparently the player's hitbox is way smaller than the sprite because I only actually get it half the time.
-The falling platforms fall way too soon - you have to jump as soon as you hit them or fall to your death (very frustrating).
-You move and fall so slowly that it feels like you're steering a barn.

It's clear you've got the skills to make this great, and it's a good idea, you just pulled it off wrong.

They reappear after losing a life! And isn't it nice to see your death coming?

- The dots don't work while moving upwards over them, but only when falling down.
- Maybe the platforms fall to soon, but they fall very slow. So you don't have to jump immediately - just don't jump on it and get a cup of coffee.
- I completely disagree with that!

Yes, that's the kind of game I wanted to create. Mission completed!

OK, heres my rating:

> Graphics (*2) 7, Some of them were origanal, but others were recourse pack. The ones that were origanal, though were very good.
> Music (*1) -5, There wasn't any.
> Sound (*1) -5, There wasn't any.
> Gameplay (*4) 8, It was a fun game and I liked the way thing appeared and everything. The one bad part was that it was pretty slow.
> Origanalitey (*3) 10, I've never really seen a platformer where all these things appear out of nowhere and there's a big flood coming at you.
>> The grand total can have a minimum of -55 an a maximum of 110. Your grand total comes to 86. What it needs to become a great game is a faster speed, sound, background music and more origanal graphics. Overall though I think that it was a very good game.

??? I used tilesets from one of the resource packs. Is that illegal?

OH MAN! This is a great game! Very, there is only one level, I assume, but it is long and hard enough to be a great game! Good job.

Thank you!

EDIT: New version uploaded!
What's new?
- Empty title bar on game start fixed
- No more useless draw outside view to improve game speed on old computers

So it's not a critical update or something

2NDIT: Now there is also an installer available!

This is an interesting idea for a game. It's one of the more creative things I've seen here on this community.

Graphics: 8/10 Try not to use resource packs. The graphics were alright though.

Music: 3/10 Ugh. I didn't like it at all. Sorry, just not my taste.

Sound: ? Is there sound? I didn't hear any.

Gameplay: 6/10 It's extremely sluggish. Is it my computer or is the room speed somewhere around 15? Other than that it's pretty fun.

Overall: 5/10 Fair

I thought the music was good enough, and people don't need sound effects as they can listen to the music already. But I seem to be completely wrong :P , I'll add sound effects to the next version.

The room speed is 30. I tried to use the deactivation mechanism for deactivating the level above you, but I was unable to do because I already used it for some obstacles, and the region functions always apply to all objects ;) . In version 1.1 I tried to write such a system myself preventing the level above you been drawing. Please check the version you played. The version number has been put at the top of the credits.

I'm downloading now, but I saw a screenshot, and I have a hint: NEVER. EVER. USE. RESOURCE. PACKS. It makes you look lazy. The graphics look good, but it's obvious you didn't make (most) of them, so already a 2/10 on gfx.

This IS a fun game... but it is possibly the most frustrating game I've ever seen on GMC... (*cough* have to hate those pterodactyls)

The music is good and fits the game's mood

Gameplay is good except for certain areas... it just becomes a PoS at those areas (the birds, and the Soccerball/Bluetile)

Graphics I hear are from resource packs, I don't have any problem with this as long as its used nicely.

There are no SFX as far as I'm concerned... but the music makes up for that.

ehh not a formal rating but wtv, I give you a 7.75/10 on this.

This game ROCKS!!! :D It's very hard though, but I think the replay rate is very high! The graphics you made by yourself are very good, I love this game!

Graphics 8/10: Except the rec. pack graphics are your graphics very good.

Music 8/10: All I can say: Nice! It really fits with the game.

Idea 10/10: Very very original.

Gameplay 9/10: Sometimes frustrating, but I really wanted to finish this game :D.

Overall 9/10: Well, I've got nothing else to say about this :).

(Adrenaline 10/10: .)

Bye,

Richard

Wow! Great game!

I can tell you made it, because I've tried your high-quality quiz.

I don't think the movement is too slow, and you hardly used any of the rsource graphics!

Nice music also. I don't think you need sound, the music is so good, it makes up for it! :D

I rate this 10/10!

Keep up the good work!

Gotta go play again!

p.s. there is nothing wrong with using resource graphics, sounds and music. :)

This game is a game of contrasts. Water looks great, for example, which is somehow not-very-fitting with the platform tutorial tiles.

The conception is nicely implemented, altough it get's some time to get used to this game and play it effective (not that it's a bad thing). The jump points might have been a bit bigger.
