Icon Craft

a very good icon design program for you games... i have gone through a bunch, this one by far the best... just make sure u use 32x32 with gm7< and 48x48 with gm8>

ok ive seen a few people asking about how to use sprite sheets like these

upload your picture and click upload

click slice

now for this image i want to split in 4 rows
so i type in the verticle box 1
and in the horazontal box 4

and now i have 4 seperate sheets
one for each sprite direction

and then use in game maker like any other sprite sheet

Surprised this hasn't been mentioned before but Toon Boom is a really great software for 2D animation. Alternatively there is also Synfig (an open source alternative).

Good for tiltes, particles and other good effects.

Need procedural texture generators? There is one I discovered today that can do some really nice things: FXGen

I use IcoFX for editing icons, Skinman for designing backgrounds / user interfaces and more stuff like that. I use Knobman to animate knobs, cogs and all sorts of screws and other mechanical images.

When it comes to my Android smartphone I'm using Retro Camera to take pictures looking like they where taken with cameras from early to late 20the century. I'm also using Camera Illusions and Photo Illusions to take / produce pictures with intresting filters.
