Hello everyone,

This is my latest completed project. I would first like to thank Herooftime for creating the generation method used in the game. Random Maze Generator creates random 3d mazes using the GM6 d3d engine. You solve a maze, and then you are shown a map of the path taken, and another maze can be generated. There is also an option to have the computer solve the mazes for you. Press F1 for controls, game info, and help.

Download .gm6
Download .exe

Please post any questions/comments you may have.

Edit- I fixed an error that people in some countries were having because of diferent number systems. If RMG already works for you, then don't bother redownloading.

Edit 2- News!

#8 in the GM6 category in the Game Maker Competition 2005!!!
This is awesome, it won 8th place!

Lol, This game Pwns!
Fun Facts
* It is impossible for any 1 person to solve all possible generated mazes. In fact, if a computer solved 1 possible maze (assuming each maze wasn't ever generated previously) every 10 seconds, it would take several billion years to solve all of them.

lets see about that...

I know why that is....this actually happened to someone else in a completely different project I worked on, its because of the way you do numbers. American numbers and Swedish numbers are written differently, and I'm assuming thats why you are getting an error when it is working with the numbers in the text file.

My best is 0:33.

10/10 great game. I like the summery screen, that must be hard to do.

In opinion these times are your level:

1:00 + = TOO Slow
0:50 = Slugish
0:40 = Ok
0:30 = Fast mind
0:20 = Maze Ace
0:19 or less = KING!!! :)

My best time was 13 seconds, and that was basically a strait run around the outside.

Smarttart, it is impossible for this to generate an unsolvable maze, Herooftime and I spent hours trying to think of a possiblility that would be unsolvable, and we couldn't make one.

I'll try to get a version up for those of you who encounter Day of Doom's error, but you will only need to download that version if your computer doesn't write numbers that same way as the US.

Does this use the mp_grid functions for the testing the mazes? I haven't played it yet, will edit.

BusterBot, I used the mp_grid functions for the computer's AI. It took like, oh what, 5 lines of code to make? :D

Ishootery, I'm glad you like it.

I just uploaded a new version of RMG, but there's no need to redownload it if it works for you. I just fixed Day Of Doom's error that resulted from different country's ways of writing numbers, so if you got this error (I borrowed Day Of Doom's pict)

Posted Image

, then you should redownload, otherwise, you should be good already.

great game, I just hate the fact that, All these maze games came out when I was just finishing up mine, now it seems 'un-original'. But I'm sure you started this a long time ago.

Anyways, great job. Id give it 10/10. My best time was around 20 sec.

Thank you very much, Crusader......I actually made this for the GM Contest, and submitted it as an editable. As soon as they annouce the winners, I'll post the editable version...(I want to wait to see how it does first though, just out of curiosity...) I hope you don't mind, I decided to quote you in the topic description.

An awesome time blower for sure. Now all ya have to do is add monsters and some really big guns and you have an award winning shooter. But I like the texture for the walls, reminds me of the matrix for some reason. But anyways, I'd give it a 9/10 for sure.

Good job,

I know im asking you a big thing, but would you give a part of the script, the part that generates the maze. It would be quite interest8ng for people to learn about that. There is even a topic about it in expert forums...
