Why Game Maker standard it has about double more functions than the common 8.1 version?

I´m starting to use Game Maker and it´s really good.
This is the first time I do a videogame but I´ve been doing animation since about 6 months ago, and I´m really good at it, I started experimenting with the Paint and the Windows Movie Maker, and starting to get a lot of interest by many ICT things, sometimes I watch "Gadget Geeks", on TV.
