Staff Changes

The GMC administration is pleased to announce new additions to the GMC Staff, as well as some promotions. These changes will be enacted later today. Please don't create new topics to discuss this.

New Staff
New local moderators are Mnementh, ragarnak, Roach, Sn1per809, and xshortguy. Mnementh and ragarnak will help moderate the Novice and Advanced forums, respectively. Roach will help in the Extending Games forum, and Sn1per809 will help in the WIP forum (and continue to support the GMCG). xshortguy will join xot in the Experts forum. These new moderators may also take on additional responsibilities in the future.

Staff Promotions
We have three new global moderators: Ablach Blackrat, FredFredrickson, and xot. For now, they will continue to moderate their respective forums, but they will also be available to help out throughout the GMC.

Staff Retirements
We're sad to announce that long-term GMC moderator, Yourself, has decided to leave the Staff and join the ranks of the retired. Yourself has been an integral part of the Game Maker Community for many years, and has made lasting contributions here and to GM itself. His expert knowledge of mathematics and programming has been a great benefit to the GMC. We hope as retired Staff, he'll continue to provide his help and share his insight.

Personal Messages Now Have A Flood Control

The past few weeks we have seen an increase in bots coming to the forum and sending PMs to our members with an assortment of messages.

Today we have added a patch that allows us to place a flood control on sending PMs, this will help to slow down the bots to reduce the impact of spam to you all. Sadly, as a legitimate member of the forum, you will also be under this flood control.

Currently the flood control is set to 1 minute, this may increase if needed.

Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

~GMC Staff.

Administrator Changes

As some of you may have noticed, long-time GMC Administrator Damaged has decided to retire from the staff ranks.

Damaged has been with this forum from its beginning. He is member #2, right behind Prof. Overmars who is member #1. Damaged was a major contributor to the early formation of the GMC, and helped shape decisions about forum layout and policy. His contributions were key to the success and longevity of the GMC, and he'll be missed.

On a personal note, my earliest memory of the GMC (on the original forum) involved Damaged. I joined and promptly made a "hello, I'm new" topic, which he promptly closed. Indignantly, I re-posted another topic complaining the Staff were treating me unfairly -- even threatening to contact the owner. Damaged was very kind and explained the reasons behind the forum policy.

He will be missed as Administrator, but he plans to remain active on the GMC. We certainly hope this means he can devote more time to game development. Please join me in thanking Damaged for his service.
