Very cool darthlupi.

I didn't play it much but it's quite entertaining... and immersive. Nicely done.

Have you had a look at my latest (Aoraki Asteroids)?

Very, very nice. I remember playing a game that had a map concept similar to this ages ago for one of the 16-bit consoles. Great job darthlupi.

Love this game! happy.gif
Bombing bases is fun and I just love the way you can actually change the performance of your ship. You've done it again...

Wow...... this is awesome.
This game just has so much dept, very nice job!
I'm also interested in how long in took.

EDIT: Sorry for sounding like a real noob (I am :-P) but what are those mod files?
I've only seen dll's and some other file for gm.
I mean, like, how do you use them and what are they for?

chumpi, imakegames99, digitalunderground, and Trooper

Thank you so much guys! I love to hear people enjoying my work.
Hopefully I made it just difficult enough were you can beat it without cursing my name too much.

OB1

Played your demo, and I love the idea. I responded to your WIP post. Very cool concept indeed. Let me know if I can help in any way.

I need to give you a shout out too since you were the first GMer to make a game similiar to this one. I'll have to remember to update the manual.

Coldat

I'd love to see that mod! This is an open source project so let me know if you want the GMD for some more idears.

Rune

Cool! I was going for the classic 16bit feel. It took alot of work to get the graphics to that level though. I wish you could remember what game that was with the map. I got the idea from Bionic Commando. I figured I could use that map idea and give it free motion. There is a bit of Bionic Commando in every game I make.

Jeedee and DarkByNight

I would have to say that it took me about three months of dedicated work. I had many other projects in the works when I spit out my proof of concept. I had alot to build off of due the fact that I have released 2 other games in the past, so don't get frustrated with your projects and take time.

Don't feel bad about not knowing what a mod file is. Tapeworm had to introduce me to the lovely sounds. Take a look at www.chiptunes.com for files and http://gamemaker.nl/resources/jbfmod.zip for the dll needed to run them. If you just want to play them just use good old winamp.

Glad you guys like the game.

The text engine belongs to Carl Gustaffson.
I should have made that clearer in the manual.

You can find his site and examples here:

Learn from him. He is the man!

This game is excellent! The graphics are good, the gameplay is fast, and it's not too easy, not too difficult. 10/10

What???

Is this a joke? When I ran the program all I could do was run the triangle up or down. I tried pressing all the keys on the keyboard and none worked. How do you get past the main menu? Is it some joke? I tried everything. The first time I ran I had to restart my PC. Please xplain.

By the way, MOD files are an old form of music files. They are sorta like midi except they have their own instruments in the file, instead of letting the soundcard figure out the devices like it does with MIDI therefore MOD always sound the same, and the file size is very small too.

Yes Z is the key.

I tried to go for the traditional Japanese key layout for shooters. I should have explained the main menu in the manual too.

I appologize for the confusion. I will update it as soon as I get a chance.

That would be a funny joke though.

heh, I had the same problem with the keys... I even killed the task and looked in the instructions, but nothing there either... took some pretty serious button mashing to find which key did anything wink1.gif

It is a very cool game though... I'm going to play it again this morning, which I rarely do with other people's GM games!
