Have fun :medieval:.

Yeah it's a wonderful feeling to finish this project. I really gave it my heart.

When I've compiled the last line of code, wrapped the game into an installer and shipped it to my eCommerce provider, I really couldn't believe it's done :medieval:.

Ugh, get a new host. This is horribly slow for such a big game. Downloading....Still downloading....Still downloading....Still downloading...Wtf? I have to install it now!

I personally found it INCREDIBLY boring. I couldn't find a skip tutorial button so I sat there waiting for the popups to stop coming... The "battles" were pretty boring too. I was expecting something a little more exciting. It was professionally done, just not my kind game.
Graphics: 10/10 great for a gm game
Sounds: 9/10--lots and they sounded good
Gameplay: 6/10 Incredibly boring, but thats my opinion
Btw, Good luck selling this... Now im off to uninstall!

Awesome game man. The graphics and particles were truly amazing. I'm hoping you can make a decent profit off this game.

Firefox shows that your shop page is not fully encrypted. This might effect potential customers also using firefox.

I never did like this game but I wanted to say a few things about it:
the graphics are probably some of the nicest on gmc (photoshopped wise), the effects look pretty good, and i'm glad you're actually done with it...my big problem with this though is your website. The game may be commercial and professional but the website looks like a 7 year old made it. I suggest you use your income and invest on a better website.

good luck.

Can't play the game, but as to the website, I'd say it looks quite professional. (I make websites myself.) It's clean and simple (not simple enough for a kid to make, for sure), and it serves its purpose.

czesc! jak ci masz? I did notice the polish thing earlier.. though I don't know enough to hold a real conversation yet
anyway about the game, I definitely am considering buying this, if I can get some money
however one question is what has been added since the last released version? I'm just wondering if their are any new features or anything since I still do have the last version(and love it!)

This is a great game but I don't feel like paying 15 euros for the full version (besides I have no credit card and don't trust paypal).
What is in the full version that isn't in the demo?
I can already see all the spells and abilities in the demo so I feel like I've already seen most of the game.

Hey. Thanks everybody for the comments.

Newly Discovered - I must say that I agree with Seeker - the website is just simple and aesthetic. It definetely gets its job done.
I could spend some cash and time on a really cool, flash-animated website, but I doubt it would be of much use. Simiplicity is sometmise really a good thing.
Most people coming to the website already heard of the game and want to recieve quick info and just try/buy the game. Look at other private indie sites - there are nothing too fancy too.

Having said that - the "about" section will be revamped soon, it's just plain boring text now.

hughman and /\lex - Thanks. Yeah the Poland owns :). Wait till Borek will release Almora and we will rule the world... ehem...

Oh and here's list of changes from the last public one:

- Way to win the game - the game doesn't just stop after the last duel like it did :P.

- Grimoire system working - highscores and Insignias to collect.

- New tutorial and a dynamic difficulty system.

- Better performance on lower-end PCs. Also some better effects for few spells.

- Loads of bug-fixes, typo corrections and small balance changes.

- Improved, more responsive UI.

- Well... in general - it's a finished game not a buggy beta ^_^.

9_6 - differences between the demo and the full game are stated in the demo itself, but it's not a problem to post the here. Here you go:

In demo you:

- Can play only 5 out of 10 characters.

- Learn only first four spells of each magic school - rest will be inactive.

- Can not save the game and continue it later.

- Can play only for 30 in-game years.

Hope it explains everything.

Well - once again thanks for the warm comments. Keep them coming :P. And if you have some more questions about the game, you can always post them on our forums - someone will surely care to reply asap.

Thanks for the tip, I edited a few things and it should be OK now. Tested using my Firefox and it worked, but I'd be glad if someone could verify this.

I can tell you put a lot of work into this game. It really shows. The music is great! Particle effects are nice too.

Great job!

Well I grabbed the last beta, version 0.99.
I could use all the spells, could play with every character, could save, didn't need to use an installer and could play 50 years so I've pretty much seen everything in the game -except death.
The spell effects didn't change in the current version (I noticed nothing), and the gameplay also remains pretty much the same (surprise surprise).
The only difference I noticed was the working grimmoire and that annoying blue thing in the beginning that explained the game to me.
I was all like 'shaddap and lemme play now!' when I clicked away the textboxes and watched that ball slowly moving across the screen forbidding me to cast the spell I want to cast.

Aggressive mages (incantation, force) still kill pretty much everything (shield, powerup, fireball, fireball, fireball...) and the mages still just stand on their positions and don't move a muscle.
I mean what the hell? They are FIGHTING!
The mages are in desperate need of animation (just raising their staffs when casting a spell would be an improvement. Only one freaking additional frame!) because right now they look like lifeless puppets staring at each other in their 'battles'.
They have no character, they even all share the same pose and their sprite looks pillow shaded having no defined lightsource.
The sprites of the summons don't look better either.
Being a dedicated pixel artist it hurts my soul seeing that.

I would heavily suggest that you revise all the sprites in the game because they don't do it any justice.
The mages could have different sprites if they are hurt (standing, kneeing, almost down, on ground), they NEED different poses to give them more variation and at least one staff wielding animation frame is suggested too.
I'm saying that because all the game contains is two mages facing each other in battle.
You should make that look as interesting as possible, oterwise it becomes repetetive.

The mages could also be more different.
Like for example one mage could have more health, another one could summon creatures/ curse/ cast shield/... faster than the others, another one could start off with 2 blue/ red/whatever channels already opened, another one could only have 250 health but have the ability to rapidly open channels etc.
Right now the only difference is their special abilities and their edge but there could be so much more.

Fighting several boss enemies with unique spells, monsters or anything but mages could also add more variation to the gameplay.
You could for example get an offer to fight a special enemy which gives many experience points but won't be so kind to let you live if you loose.

Despite everything I criticized there is something about the game that keeps me coming back to it and playing it again.
It's very addicting -although it gets repetetive after...5 hours or such.

Wow - thanks for such a long comment. It certainly took some time to write...

Well - you are right - all those things (and even more) could be included and it would make the game better. But then MAGI would took another months to make. Most probably I couldn't work on it for so long (because of life issues, tiredness and time it consumes).

The game could also be in 3D, be MMO, have 50 characters each with 50 unique spells and have 100 hours long story... but let's remain realistic :).

I really prefered to launch the game and get some resources for the eventual sequel.

Mind that I'm a single dev and not an artist. I knew that making a really sophisticated sprites would be impossible for me. I had to make them as good as I could and focus on making the gameplay really good. Graphics are pretty nice - they don't scare people away so the gameplay has its chance to hook the player.
And as you've said yourself - it's pretty addictive and gets the job done :P.

And yes - if someone played the latest beta, then the current demo is quite similiar. It's much more polished of course, but the gameplay core remains basically the same.

Oh and - you can always disable the tutorial in the game's options. If you are familiar with former releases of MAGI, then you should do it. After all the tutorial is aimed at the complete beginners.

Anyway - thanks for the comment. Even if it is criticizing, it's very honest and I appreciate that a lot.
