Linx - a Logical game!

This game is created along with my friend, Cage.
Cage is responsible for all the graphics, sounds, the idea and level design <_<.
I'm the one who works on code and all the rest and everything too (at least partially) -_-.

Technical Information :
Title: Linx
Version: 1.00
Filesize: 2.2mb
Genre: Logical
Language: English
Created in: Game Maker 6.1
Requirements: DirectX 9.0, Windows
Changes resolution: Nope
Saving: Every Level
Lives system: None
Multiplayer: No
Full screen: No

Game Play:
Linx is an unique logical game. You are presented with an operating field divided into 168 tiles - fourteen squares in a row and twelve per column! On the playfield you will find Bases occupying these tiles. Your objective is to connect the bases of the same color using the paths of the same color. The paths can only be connected to themselves orthogonally, one path per tile, and the different colors can't cross! Despite of its simplicity, this game will test your mind as well as patience, and bring you a lot of fun for many hours!
And then finally, there is a built-in editor, which allows you to create your own devious levels!
AND to make it EVEN BETTER, you can share your creations with people thorough the whole world, by registering on the authors' site, and uploading levels to the on-line database! Of course you can also download the levels created by others, which will bring you even more fun and will make the game last for a lot more!

This is a very nice puzzle game that deserves more attention. I like the music and graphics, and the mechanics are fun and unique. I like the modern but also ambiguously retro style.

The game is Awesome! And I get stuck at Level 37. Is it possible? Have you tried the levels if they are possible?

EDIT: I get stuck in Level 39, and seems impossible!

EDIT again: How many levels there are?

Another EDIT: I have beaten the game!

Cheers! I'm so sorry to have missed this out. All the good material always seems to slip by even though I try hard to look through all many GM creation entries more often.

I applaud you for this. It's really good to have people like you coming up with such sweet stuff. Keeps my weekends all cheery. Bright, lively chip MOD music tracks, sleek presentation - right there with the many good independent games around - and a clear concept with plenty of depth.

Cocktails ~

OK, first of all, thank you for all your good words ^^. I'm glad to hear that some people actually like this game, which makes me believe I have some future :GM071:.

Secondly, to all those people saying that I've stole the music:
I sincerely apologize for not putting the credits into the game (I just overlooked it in a really stressful atmosphere, where I was trying to do everything to finish the game before deadline), but I've just few moments ago uploaded new version overwriting the old. And yes, there ARE credits to the music makers in the game now.

Hope no one hates me for it .

Keep Going

Awesome made game! Original and fun, and it looks VERY professional. One of the best games I saw. Where with "good" I mean: well put together. Some of the levels were very hard, but some of the levels I could solve with less pieces than you made available. Did I in those cases find a solution you didn't see? Anyhow, awesome game!

About the levels, they are well put together. Some levels you really think "huh this is impossible, these paths just have to cross somewhere" and they are still possible. I beat the game by the way, that is why I can say that. One little downside: the font is a bit hard to read.

There is one (little but annoying) bug. In the main menu I told the game to NOT play music. It should then NOT play music when the game congratulates me after I finished it.

That was good of you to edit that; it's very important to make sure to credit those who've helped you in the development of a game. I, for one, would be truly stumped if I did not have several friends who are wonderful and willing music composers (that's you, Ds and Cornandbeans ).

The music was very well-chosen, on that note. I was very pleased to see that this game included so much, and yet was still only a 2MB download. Splendid.

Erik Leppen - Actually it isn't a Bug, I did it on purpose. I thought, that game ending would be nicer if the music was activated. Besides I also thought, that less than 30 seconds of listening to good (In my opinion very good) music can't hurt anyone ^^.

Also, I don't think I mentioned it - the Paths Limit was done this way (i.e. Most of the times larger that the needed number of paths)... Dunno why. It was some kind of mutual agreement between me and friend with who I done this game (i.e. Cage).

ChevyRay Yeah, I know it is important. Unfortunately it just slipped my mind without being noticed in the Last-Game-Edits rush. Though It won't happen again :skull:.

mitchbbaker - I'm pretty sure, that after saving a level it wil immediately show in "Custom Levels" screen which is accessible from title screen. ^^

And once again, thanks for such great comments, I appreciate every single one of them ^^.

Also, make sure everything is unzipped and in the folders as it came and saves. That might help if it still doesn't show up in the level selections.

Graphics: 9/10
Sound: 4/10
Presentation: 8/10
Hot Feature: Playability & Concept
Overall: 7.5/10
Total: 7.25/10

I'll make sure to send you one when I have it around :P.

Armageddon Yeah, I played this. Though, the idea is my friends'. Besides it IS original. Who said that game based on other game can't be original? Like... Many platformers are based on Mario, and they can be unique. Right? :).
