The eyes of mankind has decided to leave their hosts and take over the earth. Their first move was to escape to the moon, where they developed their hostile weapon technology. Ten years later they return and forcefully take over some prominent countries in Asia. Thailand and New Korea has both succumb to the hostile threat, while China insists on dealing with the eyes themselves and refuses any helping hands from around the world.

America sends a pair of pilot twins with extroardinary sixth senses to battle against the evil eyes. They both have designed their own space ships that seems to be about the only thing in existance that can be used to battle these terrible fiends.

CONTROLS AND GAMEPLAY INSTRUCTIONS

There are two different pilots to choose from in CLEAN ASIA!, and they both have their own ways of handling hostiles. The first pilot is the choice best suited for people with skills, while the second one is more suitable for beginners.

The first pilot uses a thrust move to destroy pieces of the enemy. These pieces shatter when destroyed, and the shatters can be sucked towards the player, to later be tossed at the next piece of the enemy. The thrust move makes the ship invulnerable during the burst. This makes it ideal for flying through bullets if you're caught in a pinch. Finally, some enemies carry weapons that they drop when shot, pilot one can pick these up and use them against the enemy.

The second pilot is more like a standard shoot 'em up ship. It has unlimited amounts of ammunition, but the strength of the bullets can be upgraded by collecting enemy debris. The ship comes with a charge feature that can fire a deadly burst, but it immobilizes the player while charging, which makes it a gamble to use in some situations. When you have reached a debris count of two hundred or more, you can also release a huge energy blast, that will deal some great damage in all directions. There's also a very handy shield that you can use if you get into a tough situation. This shield drains your debris pretty fast, though, so be careful to pick the right situations to use it.

You can select what stage to play on the map screen. All stages are slightly different from each other, both in appearance and enemy behaviour. You must complete all stages in a row to beat the game.

CLEAN ASIA! was designed for the Autofire 2007 competition at www.shmup-dev.com, it has three levels and two selectable ships (with distinct controlling differencies and weapons/abillities), fourteen bosses and around ten regular enemies.

just tried it out, and i gotta say...AWESOME game. i really don't have anything bad to say about it except that the difficulty is pretty high(maybe an easy mode in another version?). but i will say that i love the graphics style, the music is great and fits well with the whole set up, and i like how the two controllable characters have totally different abilities on their ships. very nice game, 9/10

Wow, I must say this game is very well done. I love the art style and the quote at the begining! My only real complaint is the difficulty level, it took a very long time to get past the third enemy!

Grafix: 9/10 // while i loved the style, it began to hurt my eyes
Sound: 8/10 // fit very well, but was missing something, i dont' know what though
Controle: 10/10 // I love the grabbing of metal off of your vanguesed foes!
Gameplay: 8/10 // I love the battle system, its simple but maybe too simple...

Wonderful. Some friends who don't play videogames outside the occasional Halo match saw me playing this and went and downloaded it immediately. It just oozes awesome. I think the China level was way different from the others though (obviously), so Korea and Thailand should have had something special too.

The second ship got way nerfed since the beta too, playing as it is very slow. Maybe the debris count should only decrease if the reflect option actually reflects a bullet instead of constantly going down?

Good luck in the contest, you would have won my vote. :D

An extremely fun game with a great art style and cool gameplay.. Also a gripping and powerful cautionary tale.

My game was recently featured on the mainstream gaming website GameTrailers.com! Not something I expected, since they usually cover commercial games only :)

Well, the programming rocks, but the game sucks.
I mean, I just sat down for like 4 hours straight and didn´t get past
the gray cubes (first level). they just kept spraying rainbow stuff at
me and I got cornerd so I couldnt escape no matter what I did!
And I couldn´t see anything! The enemys blended into the background
and the ship... what the hell?! What the hell, man?!
A little dot I could barely see it! I couldn´t see it!
Did you even notice that it completely blends with the stats down the corner?
Couldn´t you place it at the top too the right!
Isn´t that the obvious soulotion...
Whith all the explosions and rings and blinking texts and shiny enemys blending
with the background and that mother-****ing background!
Can´t you make some simple way too shut it off?
Before I could figure out were I was the enemys cornerd me and started
shooting! And the I died in just one hit!!!!!!
What´s upp with that? If you can make all that, then can´t
you just make some simple health-thingy?
Or even better, just make it wrap.
Yeah, just go too the small_dot/most_important_too_notice-object
outside room event and enter: move_wrap() ,
any n00b could do that...
Also, maybe the game wouldn´t be so frustrating if you made it so
the player didn´t have too wait for the game too restart all the time..
I just start playing and over the naxt 3 seconds I get all the different
attacks at me, I can´t see my charather and get hit, and die.
After that I gotta wait for like... a minute before I can just lose again...
YOU should be able too make some simple way off skipping waiting...

seriusly, it feels like you´ve made gold and turned it into crap... :)

rofl, Diamond.. ROFL. the only point of your i can disagree with (the rest were more style/opinion than this) is that yes, you die in one hit. Most shooter games you will die in one hit.

anyway.. i think this game is great, cactus. I laughed at the ridiculous people (the oddly drawn guys on the menus). :) I haven't tried the second ship yet.. i will later when i have access to my pal's computer. He didn't like it either.. i think the biggest complaint you will get is on the 'trippy style.

course.. you know i love that.. heh

@Mr.Diamond: I'm sorry the game annoyed you, but in my defence I can blame it on my bad documentation of the gameplay. The game is never impossible.

If you are Pilot #1 you can use your thrust attack to move through bullets unharmed, which lets you get out of tight situations if you've got the skills it takes.

If you are Pilot #2 you can use your shield to deflect the bullets.

The graphics are trippy and can sometimes obscure your vision a bit. But if you take away the backgrounds and effects, the game loses a lot of it's appeal. The solution is for you to remember how the bullets look, and be extra cautious. If you memorize the enemies' appearances, how their bullets look, how they attack and those kinds of things, then you'll definitely be able to get further.

There is also a chance that you lack the skill to play this or any other Bullet Hell / Bullet Curtain game. A lot of Shoot 'Em Ups like that aren't designed for normal people, this is one of those.

Thanks for the extensive feedback, though. I wish you had liked it a bit better, but I appreciate that you shared your honest thoughts. I'll keep it in mind for my next game :)

ok, silent person, the life-prob is not the big problem,
it´s that everything looks exactly the same and you´re a small flashlight
among neon-signs that fire more... stuff(?) than the human eye can see.
You die more than you understand situations.
And the ship with the guns just suck, I mean you lose all you´re upgrades when
dying (and you die when you start playing :) ).

Now just too make sure... you DO know how simple and obvious
the solutions are, right?
Make it so you don´t lose all weapons at death.
change the small unsightable you too someting... :P big.
And maybe you should cut down on the laser-hail so that you can´t
die everywhere...

EDIT: ohh... I just finnished typing my second reply and saw yours too mine
...

weeeell... this is emberasing :) ... anyone reading this,

just ignore it.

...Have you played many shooter games before, Mr. Diamond? I get the impression you haven't, no offense meant.

Congrats on being posted on Game Trailers Cactus, I had a feeling this would spread rather quickly. Like an STD, but a good STD. Err. :)

congrats, this game has made it to my best games folder lol.
One thing that does annoy me, is that the esc button ends the game, and not return to the menu. :/

aww well.
