it's pretty cool man, however i wish there was some sort of small story to the game, even though it's a shoot 'em up, oh one other thing your help file doesn't excute in my browser, Opera... :)

Wow...I can't believe this fell to page 2 so quickly. Anyway, been meaning to give ya a reply on this creation.

I have to say, congrats on making another game Mocha, it's been a long time since I've seen a finished work from you. And it's a good one at that. Brings me back to the 'good old days'.

At first this was bit of a hard bugger to play, taking me many a try just to get to the first boss. But once you get the movement down and don't forget about the special ability (oops) it becomes more managable (I finally unlocked the second tank and I'll let the score chart show my progress).

I can't really point to anything to make this better. A story (or just a reason for doing what your doing) would of been nice but not quite required for such a game. Maybe some stats (like how many enemies/specific enemies you killed). But that's all just additional flavoring. You got the game down as is, and I like it.

Not sure why everyone else are saying "spriteless". This clearly uses sprites (they are simple, but well done, alpha blended shapes). The explosion effects, menu and terrain are probably the only things not sprite based. I guess that's a good compliment tho (when people mistake your sprites as realtime renderings).

As for anyone else who hasn't seen this yet, check it out. You won't be disappointed :). All praise the return of simple arcade games!

I survived 327 seconds... On the sprite subject -- these were all sprites, just with low alpha. Except for the built-in effects the guy also used. So yeah, the game was freaking nice, the music was nice & so on.

What!? Five replies. If you're looking for a fun, challenging game to play, give Terav a try. Look down there.... it comes with a nice little signature add-on.

One problem though ... clicking fullscreen on the menu while the game is not in fullscreen seems to click "play music" as well. Probably specific to my screen resolution, but you really should clear the mouse state when you switch to fullscreen because the mouse doesn't move with the screen.

review later...

For those of you who wanted some kind of story... uh... you can make up your own story. I don't pay attention to the story in any game I play.

Here's all of the code that executes when you click the fullscreen option:
global.fullscreen=option[s];
window_set_fullscreen(option[s]);
mouse_clear(mb_left);

Thank you all very much for playing the game and for your excellent feedback. I wish you the best of luck beating my score.

Excellent game. Could use slightly more backflip though.

In a way, this reminds me of Ikaruga. You start off getting your butt handed to you which forces you to get better at the game.

This game is very much the same thing... it took me a few tries to get the hang of things, and will probably take even more before i start getting a decent score.

Great game!

Yay! I'm rank 6!

Good game. What are people talking about "no sprites"? It looks like sure did use sprites, I can see how you could just draw polygons, but it looks like you used sprites with a blend mode or alpha value.

I like the gun system. It was almost like kirby and the cyrstal shards, where you can combine powers and make it more powerful.

Funny story:
When I first started playing I heard a familiar song. I played again and there was another familiar song. It sounded like you had the same playlist as my computer! I found out that I had extracted the files into a directory that had a folder with my music in it called "music".
Conclusion: I like the random music playlist bit. But I don't like how you have to change the song manually after the song is done.

Error> When switching colors, if you switch colors before your tank starts out, it pops up with an error because the myCol variable is undefined.

It's hard to believe this game doesn't have that many replies. This is quite amazing! First, let me complement you on the main menu. Not only does it look good, but it is very professional. The only thing I didn't like was the help file, which had to open up my browser (but that's only me).

The gameplay was very well done too. I'm actually shocked at how fun it was. This one is actually going to stay on my PC (unlike most GM games which get deleted right after download). Great Job!

Ikaruga is one of those games I desperately need to try.

K64 is one of my favorite games of all time, although I didn't have it in mind when I made this. I never really noticed the similarity. :P

Think of that feature as.. depreciated.

This is the kind of standard I was aiming for.

Thanks all for the comments.

Hum. I guess you need to make the music on/off button execute before the fullscreen button.

Another bug: If you die on the third boss, there's this weird sound effect that won't stop looping :D It might be the lasers or something, actually, but every time I died from the lasers, so I don't really know for sure.

Here's my scores:

Graphics 4.5/5, excellent use of effects
Sound 4.5/5
Engine 7/7.5
Design 6.5/7.5 Some games you really feel like you got a dose of bad luck... Also, the second boss feels easier than the first.
Replay 8/8

30.5/33

This is a pretty good game, I downloaded yesterday but I thought I'd play it more before replying. The graphics were great, the music was really good I thought, and the gameplay was great, though I thought it was pretty hard.....

8/10 (mostly because it's difficulty)

EDIT: 9/10 after playing this game more! A must download!
