Ninjas and pirates have battled since the beginning of time. One day a high ranking member of the ninja clan, by the name of Yushiro, falls in love with a pirate named Black Mary.
After years of keeping their impossible love a secret they try to negotiate a truce, so that they may marry. Their suggestion is denied with considerable force.
Yushiro and Black Mary are forced into a life of exile, traveling the world looking for peace and harmony.
On their voyage they manage to find an ancient artifact. After years of studies, Yushiro and Black Mary come to the conclusion, that the artifact can be used to unite their people.
With good intentions they let its awesome power loose.

This game is entierly developed in gamemaker (allthough graphics are mostly scanned handdrawings thats been edited in photoshop). It took about 2.5 - 3 months to create, and was submitted to gamedev.nets E4E contest (http://www.gamedev.n...ty/contest/4e4/). We some what later found out that we had won! >__<

My congratulations!
The game is really nice, but it's only a demo... What about the full version?

My God, that is the most professional Game Maker game I've ever seen! I must say, though, that I was a little surprised to see my Desktop after all the external files were extracted. Amazing work; please finish it!

This game is really great. The graphics are professional, and the gameplay is flawless. It's amazing how much detail and work was put into this game, great job to all who helped in the creation of this game.

Haven't played it yet but the screen shots make it look more than amazing!!! It looks like a souped up GBA game with really good backgrounds and the blood in the one screen shot was incredibly sweet!!!! If you sold this I'd buy it. Well, let me play it first.

EDIT: whoa, big file size. It might be a while before I post a review.

Pretty damn cool. Until i jumped over the first crates in the warehouse and got stuck...
I couldnt jump onto the crates or go back either. Had to restart!
Awesome graphics and what I played of the game seemed sweet also. Shame about that warehouse bug.

Wow, thanks for all your great responses!

Ill try to answer all questions ive encountered while reading through you posts.

First of. Yes it is a demo, and we have plans to finnish this game, maybe not in gamemaker, but we will finnish it. (And there have been conversations about porting this as a free indie-GBA-game.

Im glad you liked it so much, its been alot of fun working on this. (and some loss of hair too >__<), and I am sorry about the bugs, Allthough im very thorough with writing this sort of feedback down, its been very hard to get all of those bugs out of the game. I haven't heared of the warehouse bug before, but maybe you did not find they way ontop of the support beem that hangs from the ceiling?. Also the mansion-bug is a bit wierd, and I hope its not a gameplay problem about the stairs?.

And as for the production questions. We have been 5 guys on the team. I myself (Patrik) did all the programming, and convertion of graphics, music and sounds. Emanuel did all sprites (with animations), Mats did all backgrounds, Zoran did all the sound effects, and Tublenco did all the music for us.

Emanuel is somewhat of an dratitional artist, so hes workflow has been from pencil and paper -> Scanning of this material -> Using scans to draw pixeled graphics in photoshop.
Exampel of Emanuels work:

Mats has drawn (atleast to my knolege) all backgrounds images directly in Photoshop. They have been devided into bits no larger than 1024x480 (to actually fit in memory), and then drawn in seperate layers to create the parallax effect. So Mats have had alot of work drawing all backgrounds, including all layers in every background (there are 9 levels + intro with different backgrounds)
Examples of Mats work:
Intro
The Jungle
The Village
The Warehouse
The Rich Mans House (1)
The Rich Mans House (2)
The Mines
Yushiro (Boss)
Boatride
The Crater

I hope this covers all questions asked before this post. Otherwise, i'll be happy to answer some more :P
