Download V.1
Download V.2
Download V.4
Download V.7

Name: Paintball Chaos

File Size: 5.30 Mb
File Type: Zip
GM Version: GM6
Screen Resolution: 1024x768
Changes Screen Resolution: No

Strategical top-down shooter lets you fight against incridible odds to come out on top.

Infantry Controls:
Aim - Mouse
Shoot - Both mouse buttons.
Grenade - Space
Move - W,S,A,D
Lean - Q,E

Tips:
Stay behind bunkers or you will get shot. Alwase have a plan. Pin the enemy by shooting close to him and use those valuble seconds to move to more strategical positions. Alternate left and right mouse buttons to shoot your gun faster. After you get shot you replace positions with your nearest friendly, use that to your advantage. Be careful, the enemy will attempt to pin you.

Version History:

V.1: First release. No sound yet, graphics are not done, though many effects have made it in so far (paint splatter, countdown timer, paint stain, etc.) AI is O.K.

V.2: Wow V.2 is so much different. Better graphics, better AI, more bunkers, smoother, more levels, and overall better gameplay. I have also added sound, finially, and a pause menu. Main menu works (though i haven't added options yet) So far no stroyline or real objective besides getting through all the levels. The new map for the first 3 levels is based off a real paintball park. Wow, the game has changed much more for the better.

V.4: More levels, save and load, friendlies, grenades, lots of bug fixes, better difficulty curve.

V.7: Finished graphics and most of sound, more advanced AI, fixed the paint dissapearing.

*V.3,V.5, and V.6 were unreleased versions

Work in Progress:

I am completely redoing the entire game because of bugs and some other issues. I currently am working with someone modeling Paintball Chaos models, and if all goes well, the next version will be in 3d! There will be a level editor for it, no question, and hopefully upgradable guns. The menus will be redone, and the backgrounds will be made smaller to make download sizes smaller. Depending on how well things go, I will make it modable. The A.I. has been rewritten and is much smarter than any previous versions. I predict I will be done with this version in about a month.

Give feedback as I will add any suggestions to the game.
Enjoy.

This is by far the most awesome game I have ever played.
The AI is awesome, and the teamates and grenades add a strategic element that is absent in most videogames.
The sounds are accurate to actual paintball, the "splatter effect" is a great addition, and the controls are easy to get used to.
This game is very addictive, so I must recommend that you only play it on weekends, unless you have straight A's, in which case, play all day, you are just an outlier in the average high of the class, thereby screwing everybody else.
See, this game can even raise people's grades!
All in all, I give this an A.
Good luck.

Downloading now...

I have a hunch that reil6426 is JoeMaster but its probably just me...

Will edit.

EDIT:

Graphics:

Good graphics. The helmets were shiny, and the shadows are good. But the "dead" people are ugly. Kinda boring with just the orange walls.

Gameplay:

It was kinda fun. Though the AI wasnt that good. They were shooting constantly, and it started lagging as the splatters were created. Plus the character moved very slowly!

Ugly menu!

Rating: 6/10 Good (as a WIP)

Wow this is fantastic. It just needs better graphics and slightly easier AI to begin with :)
It's really good, you should be wary about putting in tanks in case it runs the balance of the game. I personally think that developing this further, since you've got such a good engine, into something a lot larger would be easy and very useful. Try making those splats disappear after a while, perhaps using a lowering alpha value and make a larger map with more people on it, perhaps even an infinite game where people just spawn. Try to build a normal deathmatch and please add an option to speed up acceleration - it's so annoying!

very good game mate, but change a few things...

- The Orange walls are alrite, but a bit plain when your looking at them of a while
- Try to limit the amount of paint decals, to many lagged my PC up pretty bad
- What about different areana's? Possibily an indoor arena with a wooden floor?
- Make your own areana mode? Would be VERY cool!
- Better menu?

If you need any help, i wouldnt mind helping at all, especially as this is a game i love playing! Also, when you move this game to the Game Maker Creations thread i would love to do Review of it ;)

Good luck, and keep working!

nice.... that is all i can say... j/k(but it is hella tight!)

ok the graphics could use some touch up and you should add an ammo count(like in real paintball) cuz when your enemies lock on to you, your f'ed in the A. the paint grenade could have a more realistic paint grenade explosion (in real life they twirl around shooting paint everywhere) ummm other that those things the game is really fun and hard.... probably one of the only games ive played where you actually have to think before acting. good job keep it up ;)

I am not Joemaster, sadly, and have no experience with programming (except with calculators, sort of).
I am just a fan of videogames, and paintball, and skewing an average high, which is why this game caught my attention.
Now, unfortunately, I am addicted to the game, and my grades are steadily decreasing.
It is worth it.

Hooray, a Strategy Guide!

After downloading Paintball Chaos V.4, I became addicted to the game, and beat it 12 times the first day. After learning that several people were having trouble with the game, I decided to make this strategy guide. I have never done this before, and it may seem a little short, but it should help.

Strategy Guide: Paintball Chaos V.4

V.7 is well under way and it is expected to release by next Saturday (Oct-22)
It will include improved graphics, automatic save/load, new levels (including one with tanks), level select screen, and much much more. I need more suggestions until then guys. Every suggestion has been completed (except level maker), but I have plently of time to add more to the game before V.7. Hurry up and get those suggestions in.

Um, why can't I download it?
Whenever I click download it goes to a different page. I'm just going around in circles.

This game was ok, could use better effects and more realism, for instance the paitballs would slightly curve unless it was completely windless out. In the game they shoot completely straight. Also wtf is up with the 5v4 match? The teams would never be uneven in a tournament. Also the fact that people lay on the ground for a second when they get hit like thier dead kind of pisses me off, don't get me wrong I love violent videogames like Doom. But thats gives paintball an image like they are real guns, and paintball is just getting over that image and thats why it's growing more popular. I think I'll try my hand at an extremely realistic paintball game. Overall decent work.

Also keep in mind that I've been playing paintball for 4 years.

Videogames are not meant for realism, they are meant for entertainment.
If people wanted realism, games like Doom, and Halo would never have succeeded.
And the point of paintball is to shoot your friends and get them off your ass.
How is that not like killing them?
Ooh, and the part about the paintballs shooting straight.
Like you've never cussed out your gun when you had a perfect shot at an enemy,
and missed when the paintball curved, giving away your position.
You hypocrite.

Nice game. Although it would be better if:

Had good music that isnt too large(currently has none)

Had bigger maps? (not sure)

Had 3d objects, not all the color orange

Had d3d_start and no background color, and ceiling object with alpha value of .5 so it will have neat afterimage effect

Had enemies with not unlimited ammo

Had amor shards in future levels and bosses

Had many different weapons

Had lights

But anyways nice game, the AI is very good

Pretty freaking fun. Great, Graphics need improvements, and.. you can add more to it, like game modes. Other then that it's already an A++ game.
