Day . of . Madness

WARNING CONTAINS VIOLENCE AND GORE(can be turned on or off.)

Here is version 2.4 of my platformer war game called day of madness
it is a madness interactive like physics engine and i was wondering what people
thought about it.


reviews
-Graphics: 10/10 - Amazing!
-Sound: 7/10 -
-Enviorment: 8/10 - Some objects felt out of place.
-gameplay: 10/10 - Fantastic!

-death now restarts level instead of game!

-amazing and cool looking hud added (shows weapons currently in use, flashes when hit, and hp moved from man to hud for convenience,ammo count for duelies now works!)

thanks to gamecave for saving me time in creating particles and other effects that inhance game graphics.
all sprites were drawn by me<span style='font-size:8pt;line-height:100%'>(except the wall sprite on wall mart is from google images)</span>

good job!
obviously needs some real gameplay but I know this is just an engine.
just a few things that need to be fixed.
the enimies can't be killed
you can jump higher if you are right on a corner of a ledge
the phisics are a bit messed sometimes.
also, don't put things like, "check it out its awesome!" in the discription as it leads people to think you're imature and not play your game. Put something actually describing your game.

sorry about that but thanks for the comment i will be releasing the next update very soon(in like 1 or 2 days)

what i am planning of adding is enemy health enemy guns and ai for them
cause right now their just testing dummies and i am working on the physics.

I really hope you gave me credit in this since I did make most of it, also your bandwidth is exceeded so nobody can download. Try host-a again it might work.

i added a sweet menu and changed the blood so it would not cause the game too lag
the enemies now move tword you.

working on

enemy weapons- for some reson only one enemy has the weapon then when he dies it goes to the next one
more levels
missions
more guns
a storyline
and many more

Ah looking really nice now, the ak is cool but it just doesnt have that feeling of an AK shooting, also its cool that you can stab with the bayonette at the tip. The graphics look nice even though technicall you jsut edited mine lol. Also I like the random store names in the background, like La Tienda and it was right next to a store called The Store (Spanish humor peeps.) The effects were nice. The menu is pretty cool looking. Keep working on this and adding to it, it could be great one day. :mellow:

yah new update.
whats new:
enemy guns added
new charecter sprites press (q) to change
new logo on start
enemys now have multiple body parts (head separate from body)
new reloading animation
bullet shells
new recoil looks even more sweet
ak now has 40 ammo like real life
ak shoots fully auto
smoke effect when gun shoots
grenade(only with ak)press f i need to add this in the instructions i forgot
new boxes of ammo that explode cooler and have ammo
better collisons for guy doesnt warp through walls when hit
new backround textures

plz give some feedback on what you think
and any new glitches that have arrised

The AI can jump gaps, jump to your platform, ain and shoot and follow you. Just aboout anything you can preform, he can to. although i am working on him jumping over obstacles that are inbetween him and the player.

for this game to work on my pc. u need to set a view for the room. if u don't it stretches everything out(can't tell what anything is!)

new update again i notice noone responded since my last update so can you please leave some feebackthis would be greatly appreciated.

new:
enemy ai upgraded
new single shot rifle
menu enhanced
character color can be changed
room speed can also be changed
i fixed an error where the gun did not reload
new weapon changing
slowmo now looks better
new sprites for charecter and objects

can you explain what it says(and what you had active like weapon charecter look etc.., because i dont get the error pop-up.


edit: if fixed it (what happened was i clicked persistent accidently for the duelies
my bad ::lmao:: ). o well now it works!

well I still get an error when dying. It says trying to draw non-existing surface. I was using the ak and the normal costume.

Ever think that it could be offencful to people putting "Lots of fun shooting Germans" in your post? I am f German hertiage, and it was very offenceful to me. It's Nazis that are fun to shoot.

I like the idea of a war like genre with crazy weapons, I like the graphics and engine, and very fitting title screen. Its pretty cool, very promising...
There were a couple issue I felt needed fixing although....

1) I didnt see a game crosshair. was there one?
2) Some enemies held their ak-47 kind of gun upside down, I dont know if this was on purpose, but.....


Overall, I liked it, keep it up and I would like to see more! :blink:

ok well im sorry as a matter of fact im german!! i wa actually born there
but i just wanted some humor ill take it out though. np

also about the gun being upside down that is and sort of isnt supposed to happen
the thing is i havnt added coding so the enemys face you. so like you the gun can be upside down.
and i purposly took out the croshair for that eyeballing effect. otherwise its just point the crosshair at enemys and click if i should really change it tell me.

This is actually really good. Its hard though. Maybe you should add health boxes? or a medic that you have to rescue that'll heal you?

It has good use of GM's registered effects.

I give it a 7/10

I really liked it a lot! I love the Madness series, and this resembles it very thoroughly, and goes beyond.
There was the one thing, I hated the no-cursor feeling, because I couldn't tell how far the mouse was away from me, which affected my aiming. What you could do is, set a cursor that gradually gets more transparent as it goes away, and eventually fades completely. The distance it still shows at would depend on the type of gun, for example, a sniper rifle would have it stay in 'sight' for a longer time. You could even just make a laser pointer that eventually fades away. If you want any help on anything in this, I'd be happy to help. Just shoot me a PM.

ok once again update!!! current version 1.8

minor glitches fixed

added
-flag capture mode
-new level
-new sprites and objects fixed
-you can stand on boxes now
-the intro is less laggy and is changed so it looks better now
-new game icon (i think it looks sweet).

remember plz leave feedback :D

Great graphics. Promise me, you'll fix the sounds, there terrible, and death sounds are no-existent. The AI is weird and the level design is either you can grenade them without a scratch on you or you have to blast your gun over and over and eventually die. It needs a lot of work. The menu is teriffic. When you die, going back to the menu is a hassle.

what is the fox-nl platform engine, yes some of the particle effects are from camecave and i gave them credit, and no it really wasnt so simple to make.


ohhh yes i know the ai is sucky but i find it very difficult to make platformer ai.
if anyone wants to help me that would be awsome
